Carbon Credit ?

"Carbon Credit" is the amount of greenhouse gases that can be reduced/stored by implementing greenhouse gas reduction projects through any domestic or international mechanisms.

"Carbon Credit" unit is tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. And carbon credits can be exchanged or bought-sold for carbon-neutral purposes, such as reporting on the amount of greenhouse gas reductions from operations, offsetting greenhouse gas emissions from organizations, individuals, services, or production.

There are different types of carbon credit based on the greenhouse gas reduction mechanisms for the instance.

  • CDM Carbon Credit (or CERs)

The Carbon credit by implementing GHGs gas reduction through "Clean Development Mechanism" according to the commitment to reduce GHGs emissions under the Kyoto Protocol.

  • VERRA Carbon Credit (Verified Carbon Standard)

  • Gold Standard Carbon Credit.

The international carbon credit by voluntary implementing GHGs gas reduction according to the commitment to reduce GHGs emissions under article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

  • T-VER Carbon Credit.

T-VER is Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program. It is the GHG emission reduction program what is developed by Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) to promote and support all sectors to voluntarily participate in GHG emission reduction program and able to sell the reduction unit or carbon credit (called “TVER”) in the domestic market.

In this regard, TGO has prescribed rules and procedures for project development, GHG emission reduction methodology, and certification of emission reduction credit.
